The Flintstones, an animated sitcom produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, originally broadcast from 1960 to 1966. The Flintstones are a modern Stone Age family from the town of Bedrock. The sitcom is all about the adventures of the Flintstones family and their neighbors, the Rubble family. The show features Fred and Wilma Flintstone and their daughter Pebbles. They have a pet dinosaur named Dino. Neighbors Barney and Betty Rubble have a son named Bamm-Bamm. The cartoon is set in a comical version of the Stone Age with added features and technologies that resemble mid-20th-century suburban America. It is the first animated series to hold a prime time slot on television. The Flintstones was the most financially successful and longest-running network animated television series for three decades. TV Guide ranked the Flintstones the second greatest cartoon of all time (after the Simpsons).
